Stormalong Bay Reopens at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club, Refurbishments Continue

After a lengthy six-month closure dedicated to maintenance and refurbishment, Stormalong Bay has officially reopened at Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts. This popular pool area, known for its blend of water park excitement and beachside charm, has undergone significant upgrades to enhance guest experience.

During the closure, the pools were resurfaced and the sand-bottomed pool received a fresh layer of sand, while the decking was also replaced. In contrast, the bridges within the complex, which were refurbished in 2022, did not undergo any work during this phase.

However, not all facilities within the area are operational just yet. The adjacent Shipwreck Pool and its accompanying waterslide remain closed, with ongoing construction evident. Scaffolding is in place around the ship’s mast, where guests typically enter the waterslide, indicating that maintenance work continues. Disney anticipates that both the Shipwreck Pool and waterslide will be ready for guests to enjoy shortly.

Guests dining at Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill can rejoice as the venue also reopened alongside Stormalong Bay. Notably, the quick-service restaurant has maintained its original layout, offering familiar menu items to patrons from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

In addition to the reopening announcement, Disney's Beach Club Resort has initiated a four-month exterior refurbishment. Construction walls have been erected around scaffolding at various locations, but a significant portion of previous scaffoldings has been cleared away. The ongoing work includes painting, as evidenced by some planks being lighter or darker than others, and repairs to the lower rooftops.

The breezeway is also wearing a fresh look where wall paneling is being replaced, while temporary barriers direct guests around construction activities. The front porte cochere of the resort is likewise closed for refurbishment, although no active work was noted during last inspections.

As construction continues, the surrounding ambiance allows guests to see ongoing efforts while still directing them safely around work areas. Orange cones and flags have recently emerged on the rooftops of bridges leading from the parking lot to the bus stop, further indicating active maintenance.

Beyond Stormalong Bay, there is exciting news for Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, where plans have been set to expand the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool Area. This expansion will effectively double the current pool’s space and include new amenities such as a zero-entry pool, additional courts for tennis and pickleball—making it a family-friendly enhancement to the resort's offerings. Details regarding the completion timeline are still forthcoming.

Overall, while Stormalong Bay is welcoming back guests just in time for the summer season, the ongoing refurbishments across Disney’s resort areas showcase the company's commitment to maintaining high standards and providing a memorable experience for all visitors.
